My Life, My Way

The Bottom Line – Ultimately, we are most responsible for the life we have now and the life we will ever have!

Our life is our greatest masterpiece. Our life is not so by accident, it is designed to get the results we are getting – whether we are aware of this or not. We are the architect AND the construction crew. That empowering concept comes with great responsibility to take action and accountability for our own path.

Time is the ultimate constraint we all live with. How do we spend our hours? Are we moving towards our definition of success?

Our Life is in Our Own Control

We are making choices all the time – big or small – that are creating the life we are living today and shaping our future. There are elements all around us that we do not control, BUT we must start to take responsibility and accountability for the things in our life that we do control.

  • Redefine success. Let’s define our own success, so we are moving in the right direction. What really mattes?
  • Take action. One tiny action, a small change, a minor decision, one bite, a good night’s sleep, today’s workout, an extra minute of rest, one extra rep, a weekend off/away, 1% more, a micro-learn – Each one matters and adds up to who we are and what life we live.

Find the RIGHT balance for YOU!

A key objective for I.Liv. is to enable each of us to find our own balance in life that leads to a fulfilling life lived on our own terms.

Life Quads+ gives us a framework to use for guidance and show us the results numerically of the balance we are living. Then its up to us to go from there. There is no ‘right’ answer. Work-life balance does not mean the same thing to everyone and it doesn’t mean the same thing for each phase of our life. The balance we seek and live ebbs and flows with us. Let’s work to normalize that concept and live in our own flow!

We Are What We Do – Let’s Do What We Love!

  • We are each a unique blend of our natural inclinations, family/cultural influences, past choices, and future hopes.  WHAT we need and love is personal, but one thing that is true for all is that doing what we LOVE will always serve us better then not.
  • This can seem tricky to implement in life.

For example: One might love writing, but being a writer can seem like an impossible goal. In this case, its natural to think of all the obstacles in the way – what would my novel be? How would I get a publisher? How could I possibly establish myself? And so on.

  • In reality – not all answers are needed. Focusing on the outcomes only highlights the huge gap from where we are to where we want to be and has us spending energy on obstacles that are we are not even faced yet.
  • Why not, simply start writing. Carve out an hour a day or whatever works and just start doing what we love, puts us on the path that we can then level up.

Making time to do what we love is ALWAYS the right answer, brings us happiness today and puts us on the right path for the future.

“You can only become truly accomplished at something you love. Don’t make money your goal. Instead, pursue the things you love doing and then do them so well that people can’t take their eyes off of you.”

– Maya Angelou

Why it matters?

  • If we don’t take control of our life choices, one decision at a time, inevitably we fall victim to circumstances and demands all around us. Time will still pass, our days will be filled, just not with the things that give us joy and satisfaction.
  • One trade-off at a time, we risk giving ourselves away and waking up one day feeling like we are living someone else’s life. And time is the one hard limiter that we do not control and cannot get back. My Life, My Way!
