My Self

For many women, the thought of putting yourself first can feel selfish. Women often prioritize the needs and desires of others (including children, spouses, colleagues, etc.) over their own. While it may seem counter-intuitive, in order to offer your best self to those around you, it is critical to take care of yourself and prioritize your own personal needs and desires.

  • Analogy: Just like on a plane – we must put on our own oxygen mask first before helping others. We MUST find a way to apply this in real life where we are regularly working tirelessly to help those around while running on empty.

The I.Liv. Quad purely replenishes our energy! I.Liv uses the My Self Life Quad to prioritize and plan Rocks in support of your personal needs and desires – including energy spent “losing” and “finding” ourselves, reconnecting with ourselves and replenishing our energy. As part of your daily I.Liv practices you will get to plan and reflect on your top efforts (a.k.a. Rocks) in support of your own needs and wants, in balance with meeting the needs of others around you (without the side of guilt!).   

Liv will help you to: 

  • Identify WHAT are the most important and value-add activities that will support your own personal needs and desires;   
  • Recognize HOW you spend your energy/effort on yourself, including reconnecting with yourself and replenishing your energy 
  • QUANTIFY the size of the energy/effort you allocate to yourself. 

Some examples of Daily Rocks you might allocate to your My Self Life Quad include:  

  • Relax – Take part in your favourite activity that relaxes your mind and/or body 
  • Reverie – Find you peace and calm  
  • Reverence – Do an activity that makes you feel at one with things you prize and value in life.  
  • Re-create Yourself – Re-imagine your current life in one specific aspect   
  • Respite – Take a purposeful break  

Daily I.Liv practices will help raise your awareness about activities spent on yourself – including energy spent “losing” and “finding” ourselves, reconnecting with ourselves and replenishing our energy. Some important considerations to help you plan and prioritize My Self are: 

  • What activities bring the most joy and help to reenergize my mind and body? 
  • What activities let my mind wander and wonder?
  • What activities give me time and space to work on problems / challenges?
  • What times of day work best to dedicate to myself without interruptions? (e.x. early morning, during my lunch break, later at night?) 
  • Am I being kind to myself and acknowledging that I am doing the best I can?
