Reflect and Assess to get Better

Living on Auto-Pilot? It’s Time to Start Reflecting

It is not enough to move passively through life if you dream of achieving a successful and fulfilling life.
I.Liv. will help you assess your daily progress and reflect to continually get better as you work toward your goals. Together, we will learn to be active members in our own lives, so that we grow into our most successful selves – whatever that means to us!

The Bottom Line – Reflection is key to self-improvement!

  • Reflection is key to growth as it helps us learn from experiences, focus on what matters most and bring about positive changes. Without reflection, we run the risk of losing perspective and getting caught up in the superficial or insignificant things in life that do not serve our purpose.
  • Reflection is a about:
    • self-awareness
    • personal growth
    • using our own thoughts, feelings, and actions to gain understanding of ourselves and find ways to level-up in the future to make things better, easier or more fun!
  • Reflection is NOT:
    • an onerous practice, nor
    • a time for self-judgement.
  • The key is to keep it simple, positive, and productive!

What is Reflection?

Reflecting is a powerful practice and an essential skill that brings us self-understanding and personal growth. It is a special time we can carve out each day for ourselves to look neutrally at our thoughts, emotions/feelings and actions with interest, curiosity and kindness.

Why is it important?

The importance of self-reflection is so significant and vast it cannot be overstated. It touches on every aspect of personal transformation:

  • Deeper connection to current state: By engaging in self-reflection, we are developing our ‘inner witness’ – our ability to look at ourselves from a slight distance to unearth important findings:
    • What thought did I have at the time? How did that thought arise?
    • What is really happening when I tell myself I’m feelin sad?
    • What might be driving this feeling of anxiety?
    • What led to my reaction in the moment?
  • Help to define the vision for the future: Reflection gives us time to learn and determine what we like and what we don’t.
    • How did my action yesterday make me feel today?
    • Are the decisions of today shaping the future I want?
    • Did I enjoy the process and the outcome?
  • Set ourselves up for a better journey: Reflection is how we turn mistakes and failures into lessons learned and a foundation for future successes.
