Backlog Grooming– Cleaning up and Prioritizing our Parked Rocks

Backlog Grooming practice keeps your Backlog up to date, correct and loaded with our true top priorities for upcoming period of your life.

How?

  • Set a regular practise time to pre-load and manage your Personal Backlog. I.Liv. encourages at least to have a weekly practice, but it can make sense to groom more or less often than that. As always, the answer is in what makes sense for you and your life.
  • Key steps and considerations for Backlog Grooming:
  • Review existing rocks in backlog. Ensure rocks are correct, up to date and still relevant.
  • Preload new rocks. Add any new rocks to Personal Backlog to be completed in upcoming days/weeks.
  • Prioritize Rocks. Order rocks in order of priority, from most important to least important.

Key considerations:

  • Importance: Consider needs, desires and fun-factor. Higher the importance to you desired life, higher the rock in the backlog
  • Urgency. Consider external timelines and deadlines. Higher the urgency, closer to the top of backlog the rock goes.
  • Dependencies. Consider the order in which it makes sense to tackle related rocks. Rocks that depend on other rocks, need to be lower in backlog.
